A Benders Decomposition Approach for an Integrated Bin Allocation and Vehicle Routing Problem in Municipal Waste Management

The municipal solid waste system is a complex reverse logistic chain which comprises several optimisation problems. Although these problems are interdependent – i.e., the solution to one of restricts other they usually solved sequentially in related literature because each computationally problem. We address two tactical planning this by means Benders decomposition approach: determining location and/or capacity garbage accumulation points, and design collection routes for vehicles. also propose set valid inequalities speed up resolution process. Our approach manages solve medium-sized real-world instances city Bahía Blanca, Argentina, showing smaller computing times comparison solving full MIP model.
